For the first few blocks out from the breach, there is nothing but slabs and driveways with plumbing, still spewing water, sticking out from the ground.

Further out from the breach, some houses are still standing but have been lifted off their foundations and carried away frequently being deposited on neighboring cars...

I snuck into two churches.

Six months after the storm, mine would be the first foot prints in the mud in this church. It was so deep that I lost a shoe.

These wilted ceiling fan blades in Mt. Carmel Church indicate that they were submerged in the floodwater despite being suspended 12-15 ft. off the ground.
